Grow Guide - Zucchini
How To Start: Sow zucchini seeds 3 to 4 inches apart, then thin them as they grow.
Temperature: 25-35°C
Light: Zucchini needs full sun (at least 6 to 8 hours)
12 to 14 hours per day are recommended for growing indoors using our Pianta grow light.
Watering & Care: Plants require 1-2 inches of water per week, and thrive in soil that is kept consistently moist but not waterlogged.
Place the stakes or trellis in about 4 inches from where you plant the seeds, and do it when you plant. That way, you won’t disturb the roots, leaves, or fruit as you will if you wait until later in the season.
Be sure to apply a layer of mulch around the plants once they’ve formed two sets of true leaves.
Fertiliser: An all-purpose food like 10-10-10 is generally sufficient for zucchini plant needs. They contain plenty of nitrogen to facilitate healthy growth as well as necessary potassium and phosphorus to boost fruit production.
Pests: Powdery mildew, water consistently and take care not to get any on their large leaves. Cutworms, squash bugs, squash vine borers; blossom end rot
Height: 2-3.5 feet (determinate) 6-10 feet (indeterminate)
