Grow Guide - French Beans
How To Start: Sow 5 cm deep, at 10 cm spacing, in rows 45 cm apart. Successional sowing until June or July means cropping into October and until the first frosts
You can start beans indoors to get a head start.
Temperature: 10℃ and above
Light: Six to eight hours of full sun per day or use our Pianta grow light for 6 to 8 hours when growing indoors.
Watering & Care: You will need to provide support for beans to climb such as a trellis or bamboo pole. After this, they are relatively low maintenance. Beans are thirsty plants and crop best when watered regularly, especially once they start to flower and form pods.
Fertiliser: Feed with a high potash feed (e.g. liquid tomato fertiliser).
Pests: Aphids, slugs and snails
Height: Up to 2 metres
Time Of Growth: From seed to ultimate height, 3 months.
How To Use: Great nutritious veg that will go with any dish. Boiled or steamed.
