Grow Guide - Radish
How To Start: Sow
Temperature: It’s best to sow radish seeds little and often, for small but continuous harvests.
Sow outdoors, in the spot where they’re to grow. This can be in the ground, in containers or even in a growing bag. Sow seeds in short drills, 1cm deep and about 2.5cm apart.
For an early crop, sow in February into pre-warmed soil and protect with cloches.
Light: Radishes require at least 6 hours of full sun per day, but they are tolerant of some shade.
12 to 14 hours per day is recommended for growing indoors using our Pianta grow light.
Watering & Care: Keep their soil evenly moist. They don't require any additional care after sowing.
Fertiliser: Fertilise after harvesting with a 16-20-0 or 10-10-10 fertiliser.
Pests: Slugs and snails, aphids and flea beetles.
Height: 6 inches to 18 inches
Time Of Growth: Summer radishes are best harvested young, in as little as four weeks from germination, when the roots are about 2.5cm in diameter. If left to grow too large, they can become woody and inedible.
How To Use: Use in salads raw
