Earlier this month, we caught up with our friends over at GrowTropicals to chat all things green, in particular, pet-friendly plants!

Everyone should enjoy a touch of nature in their homes, despite any curious paws or wagging tails. Here are ten stunning pet-friendly houseplants from GrowTropicals that charm your space while being safe for your cats and dogs.

Stromanthe Triostar

Known for its dramatic pink, green, and white foliage, this striking plant brightens any room with its vibrant colours.

Care tip: Prefers bright, indirect light and thrives in humidity. Best to be kept in bright but indirect light to maintain its beautiful colours.

Hoya Carnosa Tricolor

This hardy variegated Hoya, a genus also known as the Wax Plant features cascading vines with variegated green, pink, and cream-coloured leaves, perfect for shelves or hanging baskets.

Care tip: Unlike many tropical plants, Hoyas prefer to dry out completely between waterings, making them perfect for forgetful plant collectors. Hoyas need plenty of bright, indirect light for full and happy growth.

The Boston Fern is a popular houseplant to grow, and its long, feather-like branches add vibrancy to any space, particularly when hanging from macramés.

Care tip: Ferns prefer moderate light and consistently moist soil. An area of medium to high humidity will help this plant thrive. If grown near a grow light, it's best to keep this plant at least 1.5 metres away from the source.
